Make Someone Smile

Hello Friends,
Here is another tunnel card that I made. I think it is such a sweet card. the saying just in case you cannot read it in this picture says "So many smiles....begin with you!" I think this would be the card that keeps on giving. The person you give it to could display it on their desk or even on a shelf in their home. Then every time they see it, it will bring a smile to their face!

I Just Love Gingham!

Hello Friends,

Today's card is a technique card. I made it using a brayer, an embossing folder, and two different inks. I wanted to make a gingham print background to match the center of my Daisy stamp. It's such a fun technique and would look great on baby cards, a picnic card, or even just a hint of background paper for any card. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Monster Birthday

Hello Friends,
Today's card is one I made to celebrate my nephew's birthday. A little over a year ago he chose this stamp set as a set he would like to play with. I promised him that I would use mine and make several different types of cards with it so he could see how versatile this set really is. If you browse through my past posts and find December 2011 you will find the cute pop up Christmas card that I made him. In the next couple of days I will be posting several other monster cards that I made. I even made a couple in a girl theme because monsters can be for boys or girls.

Anyway, this is called a tunnel card. They are so much fun because when you open them up you get a sweet surprise and they look great standing open on a desk or shelf.

Flowers for Friends

Hello Friends,

Today's card is one that I re-created from a card I saw on Pinterest! I really love that website. I love this design because I got a chance to spend time coloring which is one of my very favorite activities. Did you know:

Definition: Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can help people to resolve issues as well as develop and manage their behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness.
Anyone can use it, you don’t need to be talented or an artist, and there are professionals that can work with you and delve into the underlying messages communicated through art.

Anyway, after I relieved some stress by coloring I cut out my pieces, layered some paper, added a little ribbon and a mini tag and Viola my card is complete!! Hope you like it.

Hello Friends,
Today's card is a waterfall card. I wanted to make this little monkey doing somersaults for someone's birthday. I think it would be such a cute kids birthday card. When I am ready to give this card away, I plan on stamping, "Look Who's Turning..." on the first page and at the end of the somersault have the last monkey holding the number of the birthday child. I have included pictures of the front of the card and the inside and just so you can see how it works I have included a little video. I hope you love this card as much as I do!

Owl in the Family

Hello Friends,

Don't you just love Owls? I think they are so majestic but in today's card simply adorable!
Did you know:
  • Unlike most animals, they have three eyelids: one for blinking, second for sleeping, and third for keeping eyes tidy.
  • Owls don’t have ears as such, but they do have slits on both sides of the head, just behind their facial disks.
  • The female owls are heavier and feistier than the male owls. They can weigh as much as 25% more than the males.
  • Owls can communicate with different sounds.
  • Owls have an exceptional hearing capability. They can hear the movement of their prey from a long distance. Moreover, they can open and close their ears.
  • Even though owls like to live aloof, but interestingly a group of owls is called “Parliament” because owls are considered as the birds with wise character.
  • Owls have long been found in France’s cave paintings, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and in Mayan art, which shows that they have been artistic symbols since the ancient period.
  • Elf owl is the smallest specie of owl, weighing about 31 g and measuring 13.5 cm.
  • The great grey owl is the longest owl that measures between 70 cm to 84 cm, while the similar-sized eagle owls—the eurasian eagle owl and blackiston’s fish owl—are the heaviest ones.
  • The eggs of an owl do not hatch at the same time as they are laid at the intervals of 1 to 3 days.
  • Owls were often associated with the god of death, Aztec.
  • In the hindu mythology, owl is considered as the vahana of goddess Lakshmi.

So on to my card; This is called a center side step card. It's the kind of card you would give to someone to place on their desk at work, so that every time they look at it brings a smile to their face. I made an owl family relaxing in the sunshine. I just love this card!! I hope you do too.

My Favorite Flowers

Hello Friends,
Today's post is all about my favorite flowers. What are they you ask? Sunflowers of course. Did you know...

  • Sunflowers are native to the Americas.
  • The giant flower on sunflowers is actually made up of many tiny blooms? The center of the sunflower, where the seeds develop, is made up of tiny blossoms that bees absolutely love.
  • Sunflowers typically grow between five and twelve feet tall (not counting cute little dwarf sunflowers.)
  • At the bud stage, sunflowers exhibit a unique trait called heliotropism -- the bud of the sunflower faces the sun at all times throughout the day, starting the day facing east, and ending it facing west.
  • The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas and the national flower of Ukraine.
  • The official meaning of the sunflower is loyalty and longevity.

Not only that, but they are simply beautiful. Love them! Today I am including two different cards from the same stamp set. It is Stampin Up's Sunflower background stamp, however I feel it to beautiful to be in the background :o)  Have a wonderful summer day!
